New on my blog today is a quick video showing the basic steps on how to make a special candle card. The photographs are of a card I made for a family friend who turned 80 just after Christmas. I took lots of photos but didn’t make a video at this time, however, I have now.
Looking back at the photos I realise the patterned paper length for the candles is different but both look great. In the photo I used strips 1/2″ wide by 2-3/4″ long (1.3cm x 7cm) and in the video I’ve used 1/2″ x 2-1/2″ (1.3cm x 6.4cm).
This special candle card was a real hit with our family friend. I’m sure it will be for anyone you decide to send yours too!
My “candles” are made with the Bright & Beautiful designer series paper; the colours and patterns are really vibrant. The candle flame came from the Confetti Birthday Kit (162390), definitely value for money!
Measurements:
Card base – 4″ x 11-1/2″ (10.2cm x 29.2cm) Scored at 5-3/4″ (14.7cm). This measurement holds 16 candles so you will need to divide by that to work out how many bases you require.
Joiners – 3″ x 4″ (7.6cm x 10.2cm) scored at 1-1/2″ (3.8cm). These hold the bases together so if you have four bases, you need three joiners.
Cardstock or Patterned Paper – 1″ x 11-1/2″ (2.5cm x 29.2cm) scored at 5-3/4″ (14.7cm). One per card base requiring candles.
Patterned Paper – 1/2″ x 2-1/2″ (or 2-3/4″) (1.3cm x 6.4cm or 7cm). One for each candle.
Layers for front – 5-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ (14cm x 9.5cm)
