In November I travelled to Vienna along with many other SU Demonstrators for our first in person convention since 2019. I’d only ever been to “Local” events previously so this was a new experience for me as well as my travelling companions, Catherine and Jenny.
My experience of OnStage started out as solely being an attendee along with the vast majority of people but that all changed late on the 7th September. Totally out of the blue I received a message from Stampin’ Up!’s Chad Williams wanting a chat. OMG!! OnStage didn’t register with me AT ALL, I immediately thought I must have breached a policy or something and was in trouble!! LOL!! The mixture of emotions I went through when he asked me to present at Vienna is indescribable but included panic, disbelief, shock, amazement, excitement. This was so out of my comfort zone but the thought of playing with knew products before anyone else persuaded me to agree. Then I saw the products I would receive and my initial excitement at receiving some pretty papers and embellishments sank! I was being sent Background Stamps and Alphabet Dies… The dies – great, love them, background stamps – never used one before, so a massive challenge, and I was getting THREE!!!
To say I was nervous is an understatement, not so much about presenting but whether people would like my projects. I needn’t have worried, it was an amazing experience and I’ve received so many positive, lovely comments from fellow demonstrators.
The following cards are the designs I chose to demonstrate in Vienna, they show the Watercolour World, Hand-Drawn Dots and Layered Stripes background stamps. They also show the Alphabet a La Mode Dies with a mixture of products from the current Annual Catalogue.
The Alphabet a La Mode Dies can be used with liquid glue, great for smaller words, but I would recommend using the Adhesive Sheets and, for extra WOW!, the Foam Adhesive Sheets.
The background stamps can be easily used with our biggest clear block but I prefer using the Stamparatus. There are so many techniques that can be used with background stamps including heat embossing, sponge daubers and blending brushes to create multi-coloured backgrounds making them a fun addition to your crafting supplies.
I was also asked to create up to six other projects which I will show on another post. Look out also for my YouTube demos coming soon!
