Today I am using Stampin’ Up! Blends and the Mixed Florals stamp set. These alcohol-based markers are perfect for achieving rich, vibrant colour and smooth blending— they’re ideal for bringing the Mixed Florals stamp set to life. You don’t have to be an artist or great at colouring to get beautiful results; trust me! Watch my video to see how easy it is:
Tips & tricks for stampin’ up! blends
- Always use Memento Black Ink and allow the ink to dry before colouring.
- The Blends have a brush tip and a bullet tip, marked with thick and thin lines for easy recognition.
- Be gentle with the brush tip, don’t put too much pressure on the tip and use the edge for bigger areas.
- Experiment – stamp assorted images and experiment with colouring, colour combinations, light first, then dark and vice versa.
- Make a colour swatch to see how the colours look and blend.
- Well inked Blends will bleed through cardstock so ensure you have some scrap paper or Stampin’ Up!’s grid paper under your project.
- Alcohol ink dries quickly – work in small areas at a time.
- It is recommended to store the marker flat.
- Alcohol inks may bleed outside the edges so don’t colour right up to the edge of the stamped image.
- Use the colour lifter to remove any colour from outside the lines, to lighten areas or to remove colour.
- Light Smoky Slate or Light Crumb Cake are good for creating shadows.
- Colour Rhinestones, Pearls and Ribbon to match your project – allow to dry.

why use stampin’ up! Blends
Stampin’ Blends are high-quality alcohol markers designed for seamless blending, layering, and shading. Here’s why they’re a favorite among cardmakers and scrapbookers:
- Dual tips: A brush tip for broad strokes and a fine tip for detail work.
- Smooth blending: The alcohol base allows colours to mix beautifully without streaks.
- Perfect colour pairs: Each colour comes in a light and dark version for easy shading.
- Coordinate with Stampin’ Up! cardstock and inks for a polished, cohesive look.

tips for great results
Layer slowly: Let each layer dry slightly before adding more colour.
Use circular strokes for blending—especially with florals.
Stamp multiple images at once to practice and compare techniques.
Try heat embossing your outline in white or gold for a completely different look.
